This weekend saw the Sky Poker Tour take place at the G Casino in Manchester. This is the second season of this tour which attracts a large number of mainly recreational players, though it is not unusual for some professionals to compete too.
Amongst the 149 original entrants there were also a number of familiar faces and these included Steve Maguire and Dennis Taylor of snooker fame and the England full back Kerry Sanson. There was also the poker professional Ryan Day, currently ranked as the world number six along with Mike Quinlan from Sky Poker.
During twelve hours of play the entrants were eventually whittled down to the final table; this included Ryan Day, David Bryan, Daniel Brown, and Mike Quinlan.
The heads up was between David Bryan and Daniel Brown. It turned out to be an exciting final with the lead exchanging frequently. Eventually though it was David Bryan who won. For doing so he collected £4,000 in prize money along with a free seat in the Grand Final that will take place in 2010 at the Dusk to Dawn in Nottingham.
Bryan is a regular player on Sky Poker where you can find him playing as David36
The tour next moves on to Newcastle and the next leg will be played at the Aspers Casino on 9th January 2010.
It is not possible to buy directly in to the Sky Poker Tour and in order to enter it is necessary to qualify on the Sky Poker website. Qualifying is in progress currently.
